Family-owned private estate in Mid Wales
Pricing
Old Larch Yurt is priced for 2 people from £95 per night. All bed linen and towels supplied.
There is also room for up to two children or one adult sleeping on single mattresses, and a camp bed provided in the yurt: The cost for extra people is £15 per person per night. All extra people will need to bring their own bedding (sleeping bags) and towels, we supply pillows. There is enough space for a baby under 2 years in their own travel cot at no extra charge, but we do ask politely that you make provision to remove all nappies at the end of your stay. Owing to the abundance of sheep and lambs in the fields we are very sorry but we can NOT allow dogs, however well behaved.
Come and lose yourself in the heady world of the outdoors and experience the peace and tranquillity of natural woodland, with it’s diverse and abundant wildlife.
Decorated with a swirl of glittering saris, Old Larch is a seriously cool Yurt, once Flavia’s home in the Alps back in the 1980’s, it is now raised above ground on a platform at the edge of delightful woodland, with a great view. With it’s fully equipped kitchen on the sheltered deck and the fire-pit close by. You can cook, barbecue or make a pizza right here or choose to walk a mile down the lane to eat a first class meal in the pub.
Only a few steps away is your very own hut contains an odourless composting loo and a hot shower.
As dusk settles in light up the storm lanterns and roast marsh mallows over the open fire-pit, then when it gets dark, gaze at the starlit skies then snuggle into bed next to the wood-burning stove with oodles of fire-wood, to keep you warm and cosy for your stay.
Check out our “things to do and see” section for loads of ideas how to fill your time here, otherwise you can just while away the days basking in the hammock, reading, drawing or enjoy doing absolutely nothing at all!
We encourage our guests to conserve water, use less plastic where possible and recycle as much as they can during their stay. Our water is delicious and filtered so please resist the urge to bring plastic water bottles 🙂
There is an Ooni pizza oven on the deck with enough pellets for one cooking session, (a couple of pizzas) but you can purchase more if needed.
There is now an EV charging point at the house for the convenience of EV owners.

What our guests say
We stayed at the Old Larch Yurt for Anna's 21st birthday - she wanted to do something different to the usual and we thought this was the perfect option. The estate was so secluded, and everywhere you looked was beautiful. Quiet, peaceful and quaint, with everything you could possibly need - we had an axe to chop wood, a wood burner to burn the wood, a campfire, a bench swing, a hammock, a toilet and shower, a little camping kitchen and endless miles of wonderful scenery. There was even a bag full of little pieces of fabric which we used to tie wishes to a nearby 300-year-old wishing oak tree. Everything was an absolute dream and two nights wasn't nearly enough. Richard and Flavia (the owners) did an incredible job, they were lovely people and the entire experience had a wonderful attention to detail. They truly care about the experience and it shows in every facet of the yurt and surrounding areas. We couldn't have asked for anything more! :)
