Van Goff

Pricing

Van Goff is priced for 2 people from £95 per night. All bed linen and towels supplied. You may bring your own pillows against possible Covid infection from previous guests if you want to.

There is also room for up to two children or one adult sleeping on single mattresses, (the daytime seating). The cost for extra people is £15 per person per night. All extra people will need to bring their own bedding (sleeping bags), pillows and towels. There is enough space for a baby under 2 years in their own travel cot at no extra charge, but we do ask politely that you make provision to remove all nappies at the end of your stay. In Van Goff we can usually accommodate a 5th person, please call to discuss. Owing to the abundance of sheep and lambs in the fields we are very sorry but we can NOT allow dogs, however well behaved.

Van Goff is perched next to it’s own spacious raised deck, situated in un-beatable solitude in the corner of woodland over looking glorious views with gorgeous sunsets.

With a bit of imagination, make do and mend, up-cycling old bits and pieces and a lot of love we’ve brought this old vintage 1970’s caravan back to life. Making use of many original features, and adding a wood burning stove, it’s now almost completely ‘off grid’ with solar powered LED lighting, gas cooker and hot running water with a shower and flushing loo. There’s even a small fridge … what luxury!

The real luxury bit is that after listening to our guests’ feedback we now have a small heater in the bedroom that keeps it toasty in the colder months, and even an occasional electric blanket in the bed (only in the colder months)! There is one charging point for devices should you need it, for peace of mind.

As the sun goes down, light up the hurricane lanterns, spark up the chiminea for a barbecue, or even make a pizza and relax under the stars.
Van Goff is ideal for a romantic couple but will easily sleep an extra two on the sofa beds, so it is also enjoyed by families.

We encourage our guests to conserve water, use less plastic where possible and recycle as much as they can during their stay. The delicious spring fed drinking water is filtered so please resist the urge to bring plastic water bottles, thank you 🙂

Please do have a look at Old Larch Yurt, and Jericho Yurt if you want to experience something slightly different.

Very relaxing place to stay
Michael & Fiona – May 2023
We loved the whole location & the view from the 'van was a dream. I was able to disappear into your world for a few days. Thanks again for the table tennis treat All wonderful - albeit with the rose-tinted spectacles of the flawless weather: I lived in Bangor for 2 years!
James et al – April 2022
We arrived at Van Goff on a very cold but sunny day.We met Richard briefly before having our luggage taken to Van Goff by his daughter Minka via quad bike.Van Goff looks out over open fields and hills with new born lambs right outside the window. As we stepped into Van Goff it was like being taken back in time.Wonderfull memories of caravan holidays in the 60's and 70's but with an inside loo and shower, but best of all the log burner,a plentiful supply of logs kept us both toasty,I did collect some firewood myself which is in abundance in the surrounding woods.Richard and Flavia were so helpful and made us feel so welcome. There are plenty of things to do and see within easy walking or driving. So our week in Van Goff came to an end,we then stayed a further 3 nights in Richard and Flavia' guest room within Bodyfoel Hall,it too was excellent. We hope to visit Van Goff again, the whole experience was wonderful.Have a great summer Richard,Flavia and family.....ooh nearly forgot, make sure you meet Tuppence the white duck......Take care.
David & Jackie – May 2022
As a couple we loved staying in Van Goff. It was the perfect romantic getaway in a beautiful and unique setting. It really felt like our own little private paradise. Hosts, Richard and Flavia, were also wonderful and welcoming. We can't wait to visit again.

It fulfilled the ‘Totally stripped back’ essence we look for in a break. Stunning wild location, no frills, surrounded by nature, friendly hosts that leave you to it but are there on hand if you need anything.

Lisa – June 2021
It was an excellent experience! The cabin was clean, tidy and warm with all the provisions you could need.
Laura – May 2021
What an excellent place to relax and get away from busy lifes. The secluded position peeping out of the trees gives you privacy. There is everything you will need, a wood burner, and chiminea for outside barbecue. With views of the countryside and sounds, sights of nature. There is lots to do, exploring the grounds to river walks, and drives further afield. Richard and Flavia, look after you from the start, Lots of information to hand in the van, which has everything you will need.
Margaret – May 2021

Van Goff was all and more we wanted. Nice attention to detail, and those little extras nice welcome touch. Fresh air, countryside, and wildlife retreat that brings you back to nature with a wonderful gentle bump !
Bob & Lena – May 2021
Dear Richard and Flavia - another wonderful visit, thank you! The Goff surroundings are wonderful in spring - yes, we were lucky with the weather (bright days with wonderful light), but it was such a breath of fresh air (literally as well as metaphorically!) that I know we would have enjoyed it even if the weather had not been so favourable. The temperature did drop at night - but we were very warmly ensconced in Goff!!! So - many happy memories (again!) of excellent meat on the best of barbecues (local meat, brochettes and fire lighters all superb!),long walks and long evenings of cards. Of course, the ducks and woods all played their part too! Thank you for your very generous hospitality in sharing all of this with us and we look forward to seeing you next time..Best wishes, Anne, Nathan and Bea.
Anne, Nathan & Bea – April 2021
What an amazing, hidden gem of tranquility and history. We loved our time in Van Goff, with the walks, the 'wishing tree' (which blew our minds away as to how old it was), the escapee sheep that came to say hello and the stunning views from the wooden decking. Just beautiful and what we needed. Rita 27/07/2020
Rita – July 2020
Lovely cabin with a great deck and chimera. We had BBQs on the chimera every night. We loved the fact there is minimal electricity (but we were still able to charge mobile phones for car journeys and calls) everything was either gas or wood burning. They even supplied us with a larger fridge in the near by barn for our food and we had a mini fridge in the caravan. The Owners were very friendly and the list of activities and local advice was great. They even came to check on when there was a thunder storm but apart from that one evening the weather was great. We would definitely book again. The kids absolutely loved it and it was just what they needed after being in lockdown.

We just got back from the most amazing time. Van Gogh was everything we wanted and more. The solitude was just what we needed after these past 6months. Richard and Flavia are the nicest people and fantastic hosts x

Joanne – October 2020
A very, very heartfelt 'thank you' .. we had a wonderful time. Many happy memories, and we certainly hope to visit again. We forgot to write in the visitors' book! So good of you to share so much with us...thank you again!
Anne & Bea – Sept 2020
We had a great stay , good walking and remote enough to get away from people. Even managed the boat despite the cold.
Vicky 20/10/2019
Amazing stay! Everything we needed and so much more!

Marie-Louise – October 2019
Words cannot describe just how fantastic this place is. The hosts Richard and Flavia were there if we needed them (such as changing the gas immediately when we let them know it was empty) but otherwise left us be to explore the area and spend time with each other. Van goff is small but has everything you need. The wood burner kept the caravan nice and warm and the decking area was great for sitting out and eating/star gazing. The local area offers lovely walks and being a reasonable walking distance to the pub is a great bonus. We will recommend this place to everyone! A great escape for some peace and nature.
Molly – September 2019
It was fab from start to finish, everything we wanted from this holiday and more. We have named Van Goff the time capsule on the hill, there is something very endearing about going back to basics and taking time to reflect and be calm.
Jade – August 2019
We stayed here for three nights as a "bolt-on" holiday after having a week in Portugal. It was just perfect for a few days winding down. The location is pretty special, there's even a small lake with a rowing boat! The cabin was cosy but big enough for the four of us. The board games were a nice touch. Playing Scrabble as the sun set over the hills was great fun! The local information sheets were very helpful and helped us make the most of our time here.
Duncan – August 2019
My husband, myself and our 5 year old granddaughter stayed 22/7/19 for 4 days we had an amazing time there was a nature hunt and treasure hunt for Jessica and she loved the animals and Wishing Tree would definitely recommend and definitely return for another stay from Sharon, Dave and Jessica

Lovely stay with Richard and Flavia at Van Goff. Unfortunately weather was terrible, but Richard and Flavia went out of their way to ensure we had plenty of wood and supplies to make our stay as comfy as possible. This was hugely appreciated given we had our 1 year old with us. And Van Goff could more than cope with the heavy rain. It was actually really charming siting by the log burner and watching the rabbits hop about in the rain. Huge thanks to the hosts.

It was the perfect decision. The van itself is an absolute delight - really well equipped & comfortable with lovely personal touches and vintage décor. It's tucked away at the top of the Body Hall estate, just above the woods. The spacious terrace is a huge bonus (tho sadly we weren't blessed with the best of weather!) and inside the log burner ensures cosy evenings round the fire. Richard & Flavia were brilliant hosts; friendly and helpful, but also unobtrusive & left us to our own devices. Their estate is stunning - fields of lambs, old oak trees, shady wooded paths for children (and adults!) to adventure in - and even a quarry for fossil hunting and a lake for boating! The only sounds you hear all day come from the birds or the sheep - and on a clear night the stars above the van are amazing. We had a totally relaxing and restorative break, switching off from everything and just being at one with nature and being able to spend proper quality time together as a family. I would heartily recommend a visit - certainly we will return!
Clare – May 2019
My partner and I are in the midst of wedding planning, alongside fairly high-stress jobs. We wanted a real get away - off the grid, to have an opportunity to really kick back and relax. And that's exactly what we got. From arriving at Van Goff - with the gorgeous Zulu barking our arrival, to the three cosy nights we spent in the Van or around the Chiminea, we felt truly relaxed. It was really easy to imagine you were alone in the world - no sounds except the bleating of the lambs and the call of the rather fantastic wild chickens running around. The Van itself is set in the grounds of Bodynfoel Hall, where the owners live. It's near to two other properties (the Yurts), however you cannot see them, and indeed, we didn't even hear the other inhabitants. There is limited power in the Van - a few lights and a divine electric blanket - so be prepared to make fires if it's cold! (indeed, we had snow, hail, sun and rain, all in 3 months - the glory of Wales!). However, what it might 'lack' in technology, it more than makes up for with the cosy interior, and the absolutely fantastic decking - if the sun is out, you will get it all day!

Rebekah – April 2019
Thank you Richard and Flavia for letting us stay in the gorgeous van goff caravan. You are both lovely and very welcoming people.
Joseph – May 2019
We stayed at Van Goff over the May Bank Holiday weekend, and it was perfect in every way. The location of the van could not be better, right on the edge of woodland, surrounded by fields and hills. Once Richard had taken our things upto the van with his quad bike and trailer and quickly shown us round, we were left to ourselves the whole weekend. The only time we saw Flavia or Richard, was to replenish the log bin and Flavia brought us some eco washing up liquid. Once you are alone, you really are alone, a long way from the main road and the nearest yurt is way down the hill, so you really do have complete peace and quiet. The van is very cosy and comfortable, the kitchen has all you need, gas oven and hob, all utensils etc. The log burner is great, and only needs a small amount of fuel to take the edge off the cool nights. The deck outside is fantastic and spacious, allowing you to view the woods etc all around. There are some amazing walks straight out of the van, I recommend the walk up Jericho, which you can see from the van window. It is not a huge hill, but short and sharp, so the view gets better and better, very quickly. Not one complaint at all, recommended.
Ian – May 2019
We received a very warm welcome on arrival. Richard kindly transported all of our essentials to Van Goff which was a great help. Van Goff was comfortable and very cosy especially when the log burner was lit. We enjoyed exploring the estate during the day and relaxing in front of the chiminea at night. The peace and quiet was just as amazing as the beautiful views of the night sky.
Andrea – September 2018
Superb location, well equipped caravan and faultless service from Richard. We stayed for two nights and were made to feel welcome from the start. We enjoyed a restful break and made the most of the space and long walks. Enjoyed the personal touches from plenty of games and marshmallows to toast on the chiminea. Would recommend to anyone!
Joe – July 2018
We stayed for four nights, along with my daughter and her partner who stayed in the Jericho yurt. We did a number of great walks in the area, canoed on Lake Vrynwy and had a lovely meal in the local pub and generally enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Carolyn – July 2018
We had a wonderful stay in Van Goff with our two boys. The caravan was full of rustic charm and had all we needed for a short stay (the shower and loo where a real novelty for a clamping experience too). The log burner made the caravan lovely and cosy at night and we all enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire on the decking! The hosts Richard and Flavia where great with our children and made us feel very welcome. The boys loved the treasure hunt and searching for fossils in the nearby quarry (we came home with a hoard!) and they adored the friendly chickens.
Gemma – August 2018
Our stay at Van Goff was very peaceful. Set in a lovely area, surrounded by nature, feeling comfortable and relaxed was easy. The accommodation had everything we required for our stay. Bed was comfortable and the wood burner stove made things extra cosy. Richard & Flavia are pleasant folk who took time to get to know us and gave us any information we needed.
